Vice President Vance and Trump Discussed Plan to Bypass Senate and Pass SAVE America Act
The Daily Caller

Vice President JD Vance and President Trump discussed a plan to bypass the Senate and pass the SAVE America Act by taking over the Senate floor, but lack the necessary Republican votes.

What happened

Vice President JD Vance and President Trump have discussed a plan to bypass the Senate and pass the SAVE America Act by taking over the Senate floor. However, they lack the necessary Republican votes to make it happen. Vance revealed that he and Trump have "obsessively" discussed how to pass the SAVE America Act and overcome the filibuster, which are two of the president's top priorities.

Vance explained that if he were to assume the chair of the Senate and fire the parliamentarian, at least four or five Republicans would likely join the Democrats to overrule him. He noted that a number of Republican senators often vote with Democrats rather than their own party, which has been a major obstacle. Vance stated that they need 50 senators to "stick together" to pass the SAVE America Act, but unfortunately, they do not have the necessary support.

The SAVE America Act has been stalled in the Senate for months, and despite efforts to move it forward, it is unlikely to have the necessary votes to pass. The administration is exploring every possible path to get it done, as it remains a priority for the president. Trump has previously called out Republican senators who are holding up the legislation, including Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins, Thom Tillis, Bill Cassidy, and Mitch McConnell.
