What happened
British police have arrested five men near RAF Fairford, a UK air base used by the US, on suspicion of preparing a terrorist act. The arrests were made after a call was received about three suspicious vehicles traveling towards the base. The vehicles were found to have large black items scattered around them, prompting fears of a potential explosion.
The men were arrested under the Terrorism Act 2000 and can be detained for up to 14 days without charge. A 400-meter cordon has been put in place around the vehicles, and around 85 households have been evacuated as a precaution. The US embassy in London has warned Americans to be cautious and mindful of their personal security.
