Pentagon Withholds Details on Troop Injuries in Iran War
Washington Examiner

The Pentagon has not briefed the media on the Iran war in nearly five months, despite over 440 US troops being injured since the last briefing.

What happened

Nearly five months have passed since the last media briefing by War Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, on the state of the Iran war. Since then, more than 440 U.S. troops have been injured in the Middle East. The Pentagon's public casualty tracker reports that as of Wednesday, over 860 U.S. troops have been injured in the war, with 95 injured this month alone.

The severity of the injuries and the locations where they were sustained are not specified in the database. Pentagon leaders have not provided details on recent attacks on U.S. forces, including an alleged Sept. 14 attack on a maritime vessel that reportedly injured eight Marines. U.S. Central Command has reported Iranian forces targeting U.S. Navy warships with ballistic missiles, but claimed no American personnel were harmed.

In total, 861 U.S. personnel have sustained injuries since the military started the war on Feb. 28, with more than half of those injuries occurring after the announced ceasefire in April. Nineteen U.S. service members have been killed during the war, according to the Defense Casualty Analysis System.
