What happened

A Dubai-to-Tel Aviv flight was the scene of a chaotic struggle as passengers and crew members subdued a co-pilot who allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to hijack the plane. The incident occurred on Flight FZ1073, which was carrying 174 passengers.

According to Israeli officials, the co-pilot, an Omani national, stabbed the captain and tried to take control of the aircraft, prompting the plane to transmit distress codes and plunge thousands of feet before leveling out and diverting to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia.

Passengers on board described the scene as chaotic, with one passenger saying they jumped on the attacker and tied him up using headphones. Another passenger described the condition of the pilots, saying one was seriously wounded and the other was slightly wounded but managed to land the plane.

Israeli security officials have classified the incident as a terror attack and are investigating the circumstances and motive behind it. The plane ultimately landed safely in Tabuk, with all passengers and crew accounted for.
