What happened
An Israel-bound Flydubai flight made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after a violent incident occurred in the cockpit. The flight, which had over 170 people on board, mostly Israelis, was traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv when the co-pilot, an Omani national, stabbed the captain, an Indian pilot.
Passengers heard screams from the cockpit and rushed to intervene. One passenger, referred to as Yaniv, broke into the cockpit and subdued the co-pilot, who was attempting to crash the plane. The plane plunged thousands of feet before another crew member managed to stabilize it.
The plane landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia, and all passengers were reported to be out of danger. The co-pilot was arrested and is being interrogated by Saudi authorities.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised the bravery of the passengers, particularly Yaniv, who helped prevent a potential disaster. Netanyahu also saluted the injured captain for his role in enabling the passengers to overpower the attacker.
