What happened
A Palestinian family, the Tubassis, were prevented from returning to their home in the West Bank by Jewish settlers, who clashed with Israeli security forces. The family was forced to leave their home in July after a weeks-long siege by settlers. Despite a court order to facilitate their return, the family was met with violence and their property was set on fire.
The Israeli military reported that several border police officers were injured during the confrontation, and the family's car was damaged. The family was eventually escorted to safety by security forces. This is the second time the Tubassis have been attacked by settlers in just over a month.
The incident has drawn condemnation from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who called for the rioters to be prosecuted. However, the continued violence has raised concerns about the ability of Israeli authorities to protect Palestinian families and prevent settler violence.
