What happened
A government building in western Nepal collapsed into a river due to massive flooding. The municipality building in Baglung was left teetering on an unstable ledge before it fell into the Daram River on Sunday, 27 September. Witnesses captured the moment of the collapse.
According to local ward chair Tej Thapa, important documents and computers were removed from the building before it fell, and no one was injured. The incident occurred amid severe flooding and landslides in the region, which have killed at least 27 people, according to Nepal's national disaster agency.
The flooding comes just weeks after a flash flood along the Nepal-Tibet border killed 1,400 people and left thousands more missing. The recent severe weather has caused significant damage and disruption in the region.
