A new medical helipad has been established at the Herzog Medical Center in Jerusalem, with an investment of approximately NIS 5 million. The helipad, built by the Hatzolah Air organization, will serve as a base for medical evacuation helicopters and will be able to reach areas such as Beit Shemesh, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and the West Bank.
The helipad is part of a larger complex that includes an operations center with infrastructure for operational activity, command, and coordination, as well as facilities for crews. The base will be operated by flight crews, medical personnel, and ground and operational teams in cooperation with various entities, including MDA and Herzog Medical Center.
The Hatzolah Air organization, a non-profit established in the US in 2018, has carried out over 1,800 missions in more than 24 countries. The organization's president, Eli Rowe, stated that the goal is to bring medical assistance to those in need, even in complex situations. The director and medical director of Hatzolah Air, Dr. Aaron Adler, emphasized the importance of the helicopter in providing an additional option for severe cases, such as trauma victims or patients requiring urgent transfer for advanced care.
