What happened
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel provided intelligence to British authorities about a potential Iranian-sponsored attack before five men were arrested near RAF Fairford, a US-used British air base. The arrests were made after a local farmer reported encountering three suspicious vehicles near the base.
British Prime Minister Andy Burnham confirmed that there are strong indications Iran was involved in the incident, which is still under investigation. Iran has denied any involvement, with its embassy in London categorically rejecting and strongly condemning speculation about Tehran's connection to the incident.
The five men, all British nationals in their 20s from London, were initially arrested under the Explosives Act and later on suspicion of preparing to carry out a terrorist act. They were released on police bail with strict conditions on their movements and contact with others.
President Donald Trump questioned the decision to release the suspects, while British Prime Minister Burnham defended it, stating that the men remain under strict bail conditions and the authorities have the situation under control.
