The Netherlands has implemented a ban on travelers bringing items from the Biblical heartlands of Judea and Samaria into the country.
What happened
Israel has responded by stripping Dutch diplomats in Ramallah of their credentials, giving them seven days to leave. This move comes after the Dutch government introduced a boycott of products from Judea, Samaria, East Jerusalem, and the Golan Heights.
Customs officers in the Netherlands have begun targeting travelers arriving from Tel Aviv, subjecting them to secondary inspections for banned goods such as wine, dates, and olives. Travelers have reported being singled out and forced to wait in line, with one airport official allegedly using aggressive language towards them.
The move has sparked concerns among elderly Holocaust survivors, who have drawn parallels with their experiences during World War II. The Netherlands had the highest proportion of Jews murdered in Western Europe during the war, with 75% of the Jewish population killed.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar has stated that Israel will not let hostile moves pass without response, and that countries acting against Israel will lose their influence in the region. He also expressed concern over growing antisemitism in the Netherlands, which he believes is being fueled by the government's anti-Israel policies.
