What happened
A FlyDubai flight from Dubai to Israel was diverted to Saudi Arabia after a co-pilot allegedly stabbed the captain and attempted to crash the plane. The incident occurred on September 30, 2026, and the plane was carrying 174 passengers, mostly Israelis.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the co-pilot tried to crash the plane, but was subdued by a passenger and crew members. The plane landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, and all passengers and crew were accounted for.
The co-pilot, who has been arrested and interrogated by Saudi officials, allegedly stabbed the captain and tried to sabotage the plane's systems. A passenger, Yaniv Hayoun, helped to neutralize the co-pilot and prevent a disaster.
