Caleb Flynn, a former worship leader and American Idol contestant, has been found guilty of murdering his wife, Ashley. The jury delivered a verdict after roughly two and a half hours of deliberation, convicting Flynn of nine counts, including aggravated murder, felonious assault, and tampering with evidence.
Prosecutors presented evidence of over 100,000 messages exchanged between Flynn and another woman, Alleigha Botner, with whom he was allegedly having an affair. Some of these messages revealed Flynn's desire for his wife's death and discussions of ways she could die without him facing consequences.
Flynn's defense team has indicated that they plan to appeal the verdict. He faces a potential sentence of 20 years to life in prison without parole, with sentencing scheduled for October 5.
