What happened
A Flydubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv was diverted to Saudi Arabia for an emergency landing after an attempted hijacking. The plane, carrying over 170 Israeli passengers, was forced to make an emergency landing at Tabuk Airport in northeastern Saudi Arabia.
According to reports, a brawl broke out between the pilots, with one pilot being stabbed. Off-duty pilots on board the plane stepped in to take control of the flight deck, while other passengers helped to subdue the attacker.
The plane had signalled an emergency code two hours into the journey and later switched to a code used to report a hijacking. Israeli fighter jets were launched after the emergency signal was sent.
Passengers on board the plane reported hearing shouts and screams from other travelers during the altercation, and the plane dipped steeply before landing in Saudi Arabia. The plane descended 17,400 feet in just over two minutes during the incident.
