What happened
A FlyDubai co-pilot allegedly attempted to crash a passenger plane en route to Israel by stabbing the captain and trying to take control of the aircraft.
The incident occurred on a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv, but the plane made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after passengers overpowered the co-pilot.
US President Trump suggested that the co-pilot may be linked to Iran, citing information he had received, but Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated it was too early to determine if Iran was involved.
Netanyahu described the incident as a possible suicide attempt rather than a hijacking, and noted that the co-pilot had undergone Islamist radical indoctrination.
The co-pilot, who has not been publicly identified, is currently being held in Saudi Arabia and is reportedly an Omani citizen.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing, with President Trump warning that if Iran is found to be behind the attack, the US will retaliate strongly.
