Christian authors Seth Michael Day and Heather Thompson Day face child abuse charges after a minor accused Seth of physical assault and Heather of standing by and covering up the injuries.

What happened

A Christian couple from North Texas, Seth Michael Day and Heather Thompson Day, are facing child abuse charges. The charges stem from allegations of physical and sexual assault made by a minor. According to authorities, a high school teacher alerted police to the accusations, which led to an investigation.

Seth Michael Day, a 39-year-old psychology professor at Southwestern Adventist University, was charged with physically abusing the minor, including hitting her in the face and chest with her cell phone. The minor had visible cuts and bruises. Heather Thompson Day, also 39, was charged for allegedly watching the abuse and doing nothing to stop it. She also allegedly instructed the child to wear a face mask to cover the injuries and lie to doctors about how they happened.

Further investigation led to Seth being charged with felony sexual assault of a child. He has been placed on administrative leave from the university. The couple has co-authored a book on relationships, I'll See You Tomorrow, which focuses on biblical forgiveness and maintaining relationships despite difficulties.

The Keene Police Department and Southwestern Adventist University have not commented on the matter. The couple is being held at the Johnson County Jail in Cleburne, Texas.
