Abraham Accords Expansion Urged Beyond Arab Countries

Abraham Accords Expansion Urged Beyond Arab Countries
Washington Examiner

The US is urged to expand the Abraham Accords beyond Arab countries, focusing on non-Arab partners like Azerbaijan and Cameroon, to end Israel's isolation and leverage existing ties.

What happened

The Abraham Accords have stalled, with Saudi Arabia freezing its accession due to a demand for a Palestinian state. However, the US is being advised to look beyond Arab countries and expand the Accords through non-Arab partners like Azerbaijan and Cameroon.

Azerbaijan has been a reliable ally to Israel, supplying 46.4% of its crude oil in 2025 and providing a frontline security anchor against Iran. The country has also allowed Israeli commandos and Mossad officers to operate from its soil to strike near Tabriz.

Cameroon, on the other hand, has a long-standing relationship with Israel, with Israeli trainers rebuilding the presidential guard in 1984. The country remains one of the few African nations that refuses to recognize a Palestinian state.

The US is being urged to launch rapid diplomatic initiatives to bring these countries into the Accords, including establishing a fast-tracked lane for nations that already recognize Israel and attaching a Caspian Energy Security Annex to Kazakhstan's framework.
